Minneapolis Ranch HomesRanch homes, also called ramblers in our area, are so common as many were built in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. They are single story structures, with very shallow-pitched roofs. The Ranch style house evolved mostly from bungalows and Prairie type houses. Ranch houses are very common throughout suburbs and sometimes is referred to as tract housing, meaning that they were cookie-cutter homes. There is a great song written in 1963 by Malvina Reynolds that describes these cookie-cutter homes in Levittown; it’s called “Little Boxes.”
